The Fall of Blockbuster In the 1990s and early 2000s, Blockbuster was the giant of video rental, with thousands of stores across the world. People would go to their local Blockbuster to rent the latest movies for a weekend night in. However, over time, Blockbuster's business model began to crumble. The rise of digital streaming services like Netflix , Redbox, and online platforms completely changed the landscape of movie rental and viewing.
